Fall Out Boy – Take This To Your Grave (2nd pressing blue /2500)
The first time I heard Fall Out Boy was after purchasing a “Take Action…” Compilation. Most of the bands on it I had heard before, but THIS band, this band was new to me. As “Grand Theft Autumn” started I knew these guys were going to re-define pop-punk. I can remember thinking that, lyrically, it was so angry, and some girl REALLY pissed this guy off. HEY! Girls pissed me off too… I could relate. Went out to my local record shop and picked up the full CD which remained in constant rotation for years. Sure, this band has gotten a bad rep for whatever reason, but its hard to deny the talent of each member. Whenever some girl I thought I was in love with would “break my heart,” I would pull this bad boy out and drown in the angst filled songs pouring out of my speakers. This Record had taken on a new life once I purchased it on wax. I was less angry, but still could relate.
Sure, call Pete Wentz whatever you like, but the dude has an amazing business sense, and writes some damn good songs. We should all just forgive him for those “One Tree Hill” appearances and remember…He had a hand in making an album that helped a generation get through their shitty teenage years.
